I work in the Scientific Computing Department (http://www.stfc.ac.uk/scd/) at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, part of the STFC. The team I work with maintain systems to store and process the vast amounts of data generated by the Large Hadron collider at CERN.
I’m personally working to develop a Cloud system to run virtual machines. I am also involved in the running of the trade union at the lab and take part in a number of outreach activities – encouraging the public (particularly younger people) to engage with science & engineering.

Were you ever in trouble at school?
Not really, I was a little bit of a teacher pet. I overslept a few times.
Who is your favourite singer or band?
I like a lot of different genres of music. Lately I’ve been listening to First Aid Kit a lot
