• Question: is it true that the Hadrian collider once exploded because there was a sandwich in it?

      Not because of a sandwich, but because the electronics went wrong.

      In 2008, an electrical fault caused some of the coolant to heat up and turn from liquid into gas. That caused an explosion which damaged about 100 of the magnets. They had to close the collider for a year while they repaired things.
