I like extremes – one of the most interesting things I’ve found about (not connected to my own research) is the Boomerang Nebula, the coldest place in the Universe. It has a temperature of 1 Kelvin (-272 deg C), which is even colder than the relic radiation from the Big Bang at 3 K.
On Earth scientists have been able to achieve temperatures even lower than that, which is also pretty amazing! They do this using superconductors. Literally cool science 🙂
