I was quite young when I thought I wanted a job to do with the Weather. Back then I didn’t realise how science based working at the Met Office was, so I’m not sure I can say back then. My first active choice to do scientific research was to apply for a PhD position at the end of my University Degree. I think I kept my options open until quite late.

It always sounded like a good idea to me when I was growing up, but my childhood ambition was to drive racing cars. I’ve worked outside science for quite a long time between leaving university and now, and I came here because it sounded like an interesting job. I was right!
