• Question: why do you like solving problems?

      It’s really satisfying. If it’s a research problem that no one else has solved then being proved right before anyone else is a great feeling. It’s like winning something. (Most scientists are pretty competitive).

      Plus, normally when you solve a problem it allows you to do or understand something else, which goes on to help you solve a bigger problem. Eventually, when we’ve solved all the little problems along the way we’ll understand everything, so each little problem you solve let’s you feel like you’re contributing to the big picture of human knowledge.
